Herat [Afghanistan], March 13: Eight people including seven civilians lost lives and 54 others sustained injuries due to a car bomb that went off in Herat city, the capital of western Herat province, on Friday, an official confirmed Saturday.
An explosive-laden car was detonated by terrorists near a checkpoint in Police District 14 of the relatively peaceful Herat city late on Friday, killing eight people including seven civilians and one police constable and injuring 54 others including children, Interior Ministry spokesman Tareq Arian said.
The official said the blast injured 54 people including seven police personnel.
At least 14 residential houses were damaged due to the deadly blast, Arian said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing.
