Belgrade [Serbia], December 29: Serbian Ambassador to the USA Marko Djuric assessed tonight that the new documents of the EU, USA and KFOR represent a new source of political and legal security in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, which improved the legal and political position of the Serbian side compared to the period before the barricades.
"I believe that in the coming period, with strong unity with our people in Kosovo and Metohija, with cool heads, tact and wisdom, we will continue to move things in very complex international circumstances in favor of the rights of the Serbian people and peace for all," wrote Djuric on Twitter.
He said that the joint announcement by the US and the EU, the announcement by KFOR, and the release of former member of the Kosovo police DejanPantić into house arrest, give him the impression "that we are somewhat closer to preserving peace", with a slightly higher degree of protection of Serbian national and state interests than before crisis "caused by the action of (Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin) Kurti".
Former member of the Kosovo police, DejanPantić, was released today under house arrest, the USA and the EU gave guarantees that there are no lists for the arrest of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, i.e. that those who were at the barricades will not be prosecuted, and KFOR that the Kosovo Security Forces they cannot enter the north of Kosovo without the permission of the four mayors of majority Serb municipalities.
The President of Serbia, AleksandarVučić, today asked the Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija to remove the barricades because their demands have been fulfilled, and they announced that they will inform him of the final decision at tonight's meeting in Raška.
