Tehran [Iran], November 19: Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that it has busted an "armed terrorist team" in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan.
The "terrorists" attempted to smuggle arms and ammunition into Iran to undermine its security, the IRGC's intelligence service in West Azerbaijan was quoted by Iran's official news agency IRNA as saying.
A total of 20 grenades were confiscated, and members of the "terrorist team" confessed that they planned to use the grenades against the Iranian people and security forces, it added.
According to the IRGC, those "terrorists" were directly instructed by "terrorist groups" from abroad and some anti-Iran individuals residing in Western countries.
No more details on the "terrorist team" were provided by the IRGC.
