Tehran (Iran) Jan 19: The Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI) company announced on Monday the signing of three agreements with Turkey to expand bilateral rail cooperation to further develop the routes linking Turkey to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the signing of the three documents was to maximize freight and passenger transport between Iran and Turkey.
Saeed Rasouli, the managing director of RAI, was quoted as saying by a press release from the ministry that "it is necessary to expand rail cooperation between the two friendly and neighboring countries."
The signing of these agreements will improve the connection of Turkey's routes to Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as the link between Iran's southern ports and Turkey, he said.
