Amman (Jordan), June 16: King Abdullah II of Jordan called for more cooperation between Jordan and the European Union (EU) on Wednesday when he held a meeting with visiting European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, according to a Royal Hashemite Court statement.
During the meeting, the Jordanian king stressed the need to end the violence threatening regional stability and security.
The king also affirmed the deep-rooted partnership and friendship between Jordan and the EU, integrating efforts to counter challenges related to food security, the environment, and climate change.
For her part, Von der Leyen commended the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and the EU, stressing the EU's commitment to supporting the kingdom.
The EU leader also lauded Jordan's pivotal role in the region and its efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises and bolster regional partnerships.
