Dubai [UAE], February 14: Giedrė Balčytytė, Lithuanian Government Chancellor has emphasised the strength of relations between her country and the United Arab Emirates and the growing volume of investment and trade between the two countries.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of her participation in the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, Balčytytė said:"We note that recent years have witnessed a growth in relations between the two countries, especially in trade and investment, and there are broader prospects for further growth in the future."
Balčytytė added that Lithuania is looking forward to more Emirati investments, especially in areas of technology, fintech, health and life sciences.
She said that her country is counting heavily on increasing the contribution of life sciences to the country's GDP, pointing out that Lithuania is still a major producer of agricultural products, and there are promising trade opportunities with the UAE in many other areas.
The Lithuanian Government Chancellor stated that the summit highlights how governments work, stressing the need for governments to improve their work in light of the enormous challenges facing the world today.
She pointed out that the discussions related to the technological aspects of the World Governments Summit were interesting to understand the progress of other countries, noting that technology is a key component of any government development programmes.
