Rome [Italy], October 20: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's right-wing administration has become the third-longest serving government in the country's post-war history.
Meloni's term has lasted 1,093 days, equalling that of the administration of former socialist prime minister Bettino Craxi in the mid-1980s, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Sunday.
Only conservative Silvio Berlusconi led governments for longer, on two occasions in 2001-05 and 2008-11.
Italy has had a history of short-term governments, with the average administration since the end of World War II lasting just one year and one month.
However, Meloni has bucked the trend since taking office in October 2022 at the head of a coalition between her far-right Brothers of Italy party, the centre-right Forza Italia and the populist Lega. (DPA)
