Washington [US], March 4: White House doctor Kevin O'Connor said the skin cancer lesion was discovered during a comprehensive physical examination . This is a basal cell carcinoma, which has no tendency to "spread" or "metastasize". And President Biden did not need to undergo further treatment.
The skin lesions were removed during a physical examination on February 16, which concluded that Mr. Biden was healthy enough to serve as US leader.
"The biopsy site has closed well and the President will continue to receive dermatological monitoring as part of his ongoing holistic health care process," said Dr. O'Connor.
He notes basal cell carcinoma is usually harmless compared to more serious skin cancers such as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma.
" President Biden continues to be a healthy man in his 80s and is perfectly suited to serve as president, including as head of government, head of state and chief of staff of the military. America", AFP quoted the doctor's conclusion.
The February health check was the last before Mr Biden, the oldest president in US history, is expected to announce his plans to run for re-election in 2024 .
During his February screening, Biden completed a series of tests he began last year at the Walter Reed National Medical Center.
In the past, O'Connor's personal physician wrote that the President of the United States was "frequently exposed to the sun in his youth," and that he was regularly removed from localized, benign skin cancer lesions.
