Washington [US], April 28: The alleged shooter in the attack that occurred during Saturday's White House press dinner was charged on Monday with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.
Several US media outlets, reporting from the courtroom where the suspect appeared before the judge, outlined the charges.
The California suspect, aged 31, is also facing two federal charges: use of a firearm in the commission of a violent offence, and the assault of a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.
The man reportedly stormed through a Secret Service security checkpoint heavily armed during the White House Correspondents' Dinner before being stopped by officers.
A security officer was hit by at least one bullet but was not seriously injured thanks to his bulletproof vest.
Other charges against Allen include transporting a firearm and ammunition in interstate commerce for use in a felony; and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.
